Lodging in Hood River
Hood River has several pubs, stores, and coffee
shops all off a quaint main street. Apparently there is a convention
in Hood River over the Aug. 12 weekend and some of the Hood River
options may be booked up (i.e. Hood River Hotel).

Vacation Rentals
You may want to consider renting a vacation

during the summer months, but there may be exceptions.

Lodging in Portland
If you want to make Portland your homebase, here
are some recommendations:
The Kennedy School
Part of the McMenamin’s chain, a renovated
old school in northeast Portland now features a hotel, movie theater
(in the old auditorium) and restaurant in the facility. The breakfasts
are incredible! $89 - $99.

The Mark Spencer Hotel
They bill themselves as “hotel to the arts”
and are on the edge of the Pearl District in Portland, which is
a trendy place to spend some time (home to the famous Powell’s
Books). $69 - $150.

The Jupiter Hotel
Truly retro. It’s in Northeast Portland
on Burnside, which is apparently close to everything via light rail.

private suite. It’s about 50 miles or so from Hood River.
$30 - $175.

Camping
There are plenty of campgrounds around the Hood
River area, but Jim Reed is generously allowing campers at the Orchard,
particularly the night of the ceremony, for those interested. There
is an outdoor shower available, and there will also be rustic “facilities”
(i.e. honeybuckets). Please let me know if you’ll want to
camp at the Orchard so I have an idea who’ll be around!
